Abstract: 

During the heyday of the tech boom, young entrepreneurs often spoke of venture philanthropy and the advantages of applying business management approaches to charitable undertakings. Many of those projects went under with their leaders when the tech boom ended and billions of dollars in stock market wealth was destroyed.
