Abstract: 

Conduct disorders frequently manifest themselves as conflicts, threats, bullying, fights, assaults, and other forms of aggression. In educational settings, aggression often occurs on playgrounds where adult monitoring is limited (Craig et al., 2000; Olweus, 1994; Whitney & Smith, 1993). Observational studies suggest that only a small proportion of aggressive episodes are detected and dealt with (Craig, et al., 2000). Students are reluctant to intervene in playground conflicts and many victims do not report these incidents to their parents or teachers. Mediation programs train older students to help peers apply problem-solving strategies to the resolution of playground conflict and aggression.
