Abstract:
Mental health outcomes for children and adolescents could be greatly improved by the widespread use of evidence-based psychiatric treatments, but much of the progress of the past decade has failed to reach the youth most in need. This gap between recommended and actual practices exists largely because patients, parents, and doctors fail to take the actions that would allow evidence- based methods to be implemented effectively. Interventions will be most effective if they are directed at changing a specific behavior and are tailored to the salient beliefs and concerns of a particular population (e.g., providers). Keywords:
