Abstract:
Of the childhood behavior disorders, in the United States, externalizing disruptive behavior disorders including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), adjustment disorders with disturbance of conduct, and conduct disorder (CD) are the most frequent causes of referrals to child mental health clinics (Weisz et al., 1987). Reviews of studies show that these disorders comprise at least one half to possibly three quarters of referrals (Weisz et al, 1987; Kazdin, 1987), and that the co-morbidity in these disorders is quite high. Research indicates that the psychosocial treatment with the most efficacy for children with disruptive behavior problems is some form of behaviorally based parent management training. Keywords:
