Abstract:
Research on bullying over the past several decades has provided a great deal of information about both the nature of bullying and its impact on children. Based on this body of work, it is clear that bullying is a phenomenon found in schools all over the world. Smith and Brian (2000) reported that bullying is a “normative behavior” that has been documented in 16 European countries, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. This article reviews the research on bullying, and then details the results of a new four-year study using the Bully-Proofing Your School intervention in a suburban school. Keywords:
