Abstract:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization have called for research and programs to address teen dating violence (TDV) prevention across multiple levels of the social-ecological model, including individual, relationship, community, and societal levels. To date, reviews have largely omitted evidence on higher levels of the model, in part because of methodological challenges. Due to the dearth of comprehensive evidence on relationship and community level strategies, many TDV prevention programs struggle to identify promising practices. This article synthesizes evidence from 31 intervention strategies across the social-ecological model. The review describes key findings and presents specific recommendations for practitioners, policymakers, and researchers to enhance implementation and improve the knowledge base. This review is the first to focus specifically on effects at different levels of the social-ecological model and can be used to advance knowledge, especially of relationship and community level strategies. Keywords: Teen dating violence, TDV, social-ecological model, SEM, relationship level strategies, community level strategies, KABBS
