Abstract: 

This article summarizes and discusses recent cases involving police tort liability: Navarro v. Block, 64 U.S.L.W. 2259 (9th Cir. Oct. 19, 1995); Hakken v. Washtenaw County, 1995 WL 594500 (E.D. Mich. Sept. 29, 1995); Pinder v. Johnson, 54 F.3d 1169 (4th Cir. 1995); DeShaney v. Winnebago County Dept. of Social Services, 489 U.S. 189 (1989).
