Abstract:

The family drama surrounding the decline and death of radio personality Casey Kasem has been reported widely in the press as a cautionary tale for even those families that have prepared for end-of-life care. This article examines what went wrong even though Kasem had already executed the proper forms, in the proper way, and those documents were available to everyone involved in the case, as well as touching on important document provisions, and proposed legislation regarding conservators requirement to notify relatives in the event of acute care or death.
