Abstract: 

A lawsuit is filed by three men involuntarily committed to Bridgewater State Hospital (Mass.) seeking, first, class action status on behalf of some 175 others similarly situated and, second, seeking relief from the unlawful use of restraint and seclusion. One key remedy sought in this litigation is to prevent men not serving a criminal sentence from being incarcerated at Bridgewater.
