Abstract:
This article examines the operating principles and institutional structures of Canada's national parole system and makes the case that parole is a critical element of community corrections—part of the management of the sentence of incarceration, a community measure, and a restorative measure that constitutes a bridge between the prison and the street enabling the safe, gradual reintegration of offenders. Keywords:
