Abstract:
Background and Guiding Principle Although schools are not in the mental health business, it has long been acknowledged that psychosocial and mental health concerns must be addressed if schools are to function satisfactorily and students are to learn and perform effectively. Capturing this reality, the Carnegie Council Task Force on Education of Young Adolescents (1989) cogently states that: “School systems are not responsible for meeting every need of their students. But when the need directly affects learning, the school must meet the challenge.”Keywords:
