Abstract: 

In the last century alone, there have been 24 International Human Rights Conventions adopted by the international community. These conventions have addressed the special vulnerability of various groups who have experienced serious violations of their human rights. They have addressed problems such as slavery, genocide, treatment of prisoners of war and of civilians in a time of war, racial discrimination, torture, and other cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment.
