Abstract:

“Every American deserves the chance to live out the full measure of their days in health and security.” These words were part of the President’s proclamation in response to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15, 2012 (WEAAD 2012), which was memorialized in a four-part online symposium outlined in this article. The CFPB (Consumer Financial Protective Bureau) was established by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2012. Part of the agency’s mission is to improve the financial literacy of people aged 62 and over to protect them against unfair, deceptive, and abusive practices.
