Abstract: 

A Dutchess County, New York probation officer highlights key elements in its pretrial programming that seeks to meet the needs of defendants, the courts, the larger criminal justice system, and the community. A linchpin of their approach is the use of the Inventory of Needs (ION) screening tool to evaluate risk.
