Abstract:
This article describes a pilot study designed to identify specific attributes of case managers in community corrections facilities that contribute to clients successfully completing their rehabilitation program. Case managers (N=11) completed a Sixteen Personality Factor (16PF) Questionnaire and peer evaluations. Clients (N=130) completed a survey evaluating their case manager on several job-related characteristics. Time to Change (TTC) administration also provided success rates for each case manager, based on the percentage of their clients who successfully completed the residential program. The results indicate that certain personality traits are more likely to affect in-treatment change and post-treatment outcomes for community corrections programs. It is recommended that future research include more case managers and clients to produce more robust results. Keywords: Community corrections, case manager attributes, personality traits, offender rehabilitation, recidivism
