Abstract:
For most people, the prospect of an IRS tax audit inspires deep feelings of fear and dread. For some time now, however, a shortage of resources has hampered the IRS’s ability to examine as many tax returns as they would like. While that situation hasn’t changed too much recently, it is worth noting that the IRS is at least trying to apply what resources it does have in a more effective and commonsense fashion.
