Abstract: 

Strategic planning, one of the most important tools for effectiveness in the corporate world, is rapidly gaining importance in the nonprofit sector. As charities struggle to survive the current economy, build contributions, replace diminishing government support, and comply with new administrative requirements, the strategic plan has been the tool many used to strengthen mission focusand more effectively communicate that mission to the public. For many nonprofits, theresults have made the difference between survival and obsolescence.
