Abstract:

A recently released study of the 10,000 largest independent, corporate, and community foundations (ranked by giving) provides a number of revealing expense and compensation figures. The study represents an interim report summarizing the findings to date from the Foundation Expenses and Compensation Study, a partnership of the Urban Institute, the Foundation Center, and GuideStar, and its coauthors are Elizabeth T. Boris, Loren Renz, and Mark A. Hager. The study was launched in 2004 and considers the expense and compensation patterns of the subject foundations for the year 2001.
