Abstract:

Editor’s Note: Part I of this multipart series discussed the rights of civilly committed sexually violent predators and Paul Augustine’s case specifically. (John S. Furlong, “Anatomy of a Civil Rights Action, Part I: Understanding How the Courts Clarify the Law,” 6 (4) SLR 49 (Jun./Jul. 2005).) In this installment, John Furlong continues with the developments in the case. When we left off with Paul Augustine in the last issue of SLR, he was trying to figure out how to get into federal court to address a wide variety of constitutional issues arising out of his civil commitment under New Jersey’s Sexually Violent Predator Act (SVPA).
