Abstract: 

Can medical personnel block access of law enforcement to victims of partner violence in health care settings? This article describes a situation where a hospital case worker blocked access to a victim due to confi dentiality concerns. The woman was released from the hospital in the care of her abusive husband, and the case worker was arrested and charged with obstructing justice. She filed a lawsuit alleging false arrest.
