Abstract:

This article highlights the momentous September, 2018, passage by Congress of concurrent resolution (H. Con. Res. 72). After a years-long campaign spearheaded by leaders of several prominent protective mothers’ organizations, this resolution makes the common-sense statement that child safety should be the first priority in the adjudication of contested child custody cases involving allegations of domestic violence. Signed off on by over 50 advocacy organizations, the resolution will hopefully bring a halt to the horrendous injustices visited upon battered women and their children by family courts across this country.
