Abstract:

A recent study by researchers at Boston University School of Public Health and School of Medicine concludes that state laws that require domestic violence offenders to relinquish their guns (instead of merely barring them from owning firearms) actually lower the risk that those offenders may kill their partners. This article summarizes this new report, by Carolina Diez et al., “State Intimate Partner Violence-Related Firearm Laws and Intimate Partner Homicide Rates in the United States, 1991 to 2015,” published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine, Sept. 19, 2017.
