Abstract:
Congress enacts important protections for LGBTQ victims of domestic violence in the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA 2013) in response to studies showing that many LGBT survivors were turned away from shelters or denied protective orders.Keywords: discrimination based on on the basis of sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation; barriers that prevent LGBTQ Survivors from receiving help
