Abstract: 

Today, 25% of dating relationships begin online, making the Internet the second most common way couples meet. At the same time, the anonymous nature of the Internet creates safety risks for its users. This article will explore the progress and problems presented by state law reforms that address online dating safety. While laws have been fairly successful in addressing romance scams, they have been less effective in protecting women from violent encounters.
