Abstract:
Given the variations in how systems work and the myriad of agencies an abused elder might contact, it’s always interesting when someone takes the time to analyze a whole group of cases from a single agency. In the case of “A Statewide Profile of Abuse of Older Women and the Criminal Justice Response” (Mar. 24, 2008; available at http://www.NCJRS.gov/pdffiles1/nij/grants/222459.pdf. In later references, “A Statewide Profile”), prepared by Advocates for Human Potential, Inc., and funded by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the researchers analyzed all domestic violence cases reported to Rhode Island law enforcement during 2002 in which the victim was over 50 and female. This article summarizes the findings. Keywords: Statewide Profile of Abuse of Older Women
