Abstract:

Compelling stories, offering real examples of what abuse looks like, highlighted the 2010 Call to Action conference and award ceremony held in San Francisco. Call to Action is organized by the Elder Financial Protection Network (EFPN), which is located in San Francisco and is a collaborative effort with sponsors from many financial institutions. The keynote speaker this year was Philip Marshall, Brooke Astor’s grandson. VED has printed articles on this landmark case, which provided a backdrop to this complex case. There is a sidebar on the topic “Can Financial Elder Abuse Be Categorized as a Hate Crime?” focusing on two cases in Queens, New York.
