Abstract:
According to the U.S. Bureau of the Census (1992), people aged 65 years and above now represent the fastest growing segment in population growth. In fact, census figures suggest that there are presently 34 million residents over the age of 65, an increase of eight million since 1980. In this article, Brian Shapiro explores how this aging population affects the American prison system. Keywords: Incarcerated senior citizens; age
