Abstract:
The New York State Department of Correctional Services (DOCS) recently assessed the extent of targeted correctional program participation among 13,024 inmates who were released from prison during the first ten months of 2002. Two years after their release, according to this research, inmates who successfully participated in prison programs based on their assessed needs were more likely to remain in the community than those who failed to complete the needed programs. Keywords: best practices
