Abstract:

In this article, Fry gives his views on which evidence-based therapeutic programs are the most effective. He argues that optimal outcomes are achieved with dynamic and client-centered counseling, which should adapt to the specific needs of the individual’s situation. For example, motivational interviewing should be used when motivation is the issue and ability building approaches should be used when the lack of skills and/or knowledge is the issue.
