Abstract:
The author argues that reentry policy makers, corrections-based practitioners, and former prisoners should stress the vital importance of bolstering pre- and post-release preparation for exiting and exited prisoners and making greater use of transitional programs. There are significant challenges that ex-offenders face and without proper support, reentry can be a tough, which often leads to recidivism. The author highlights a Minnesota-based not-for-profit that provides the necessary support and eases the transition from prison to the outside world. Keywords: reentry
