Abstract:

The PORT system, created by Christopher A. Hertig, a professor at York College, Pennsylvania, is a method of breaking down and examining ethical dilemmas. The four stages of ethical assessment procedures that a campus security officer experiences during his or her tenure on the security department are the problem statement, the options identification, the acknowledgement of responsibilities, and the time assessment. Below is an example of an ethical dilemma relevant to this discussion and forms the basis for an illustration of the application of the PORT system.
