Abstract: 

The use of force continues to be one of the highest profile and liability issues facing law enforcement and campus security departments in our society today. In the event of a legal challenge or litigation involving the use of force, training and documentation are always central and critical issues. This has become increasingly apparent in the aftermath of recent high profile incidents involving the use of physical force. Campus security managers and administrators must do their utmost to minimize the chances that their employees and organizations will become involved in force incidents. The following are 10 suggestions to help reduce use of force and training-related liability for campus law enforcement agencies.
