Abstract:

Today’s campus security officers frequently face ethical dilemmas on the job, especially if they are students at the college or university where they work. Students working as campus security officers are often seen by the college community in a light different from that of the rest of the student body. These officers occupy a position of authority over their peers which often gives rise to internal conflicts between friendship and obligation for these officers, to an even stronger degree than is experienced by resident assistants. This article looks at the problems these officers face and the stages they go through to try and overcome them.
