Abstract:
In the aftermath of the September crisis, correctional facilities as well as the public were concerned regarding the threat of anthrax. Many state and country correctional institutions had already started an assessment of bioterrorism vulnerability because of recommendations put forth on a national level about the treat of terrorism after the World Trade Center attack. However, it was not until the second case of anthrax was reported and it became clear that the first death was not a natural occurrence that the importance of a bioterrorism response plan became clear. Keywords: CDC, communication, bioterrorism, Office of Preventive Medicine, biowarfare, terrorism
