Abstract: 

The 21st Annual Research Conference, held in Reno, Nevada, on September 9 through 12, 2013, was the second in the series of “what matters” in community corrections and had as its theme “One Criminal Justice System with Many Decision Makers: Working Toward a Shared Vision.” This Editor’s Note summarizes the five plenary sessions that provided the basis for the development of the conference theme: (1) Criminal Justice System Collaboration and Decision Making, (2) Release Decision Making, (3) Innovations in Dynamic Risk Assessment: Community Risk Management Through a Desistance Lens, (4) Review of Research Conducted for State and Local Criminal Justice Policymakers, and (5) The Challenge of Community Corrections to Evolve Beyond RNR-Based Policies to Everyday RNR Practice: Learning From the Strategic Training Initiative in Community Supervision.
