Abstract:

In initiating a campaign to meet the challenges to siting community corrections facilities, the ICCA has assembled a broad-based, international team of experienced community corrections professionals representing both residential services and probation and parole programs. A Siting Campaign Committee came together to develop a multiphased and multidimensional approach to winning support for siting corrections programs at the local, grass-roots level. The tool kit features case studies, a guide to media engagement, audiovisual materials, and most significantly, a step-by-step guide to siting, focused extensively on how to create community allies and develop powerful relationships.
