Abstract:
For some time now, both legislators and the Internal Revenue Service have expressed concern over the governance of private foundations and other exempt organizations. The IRS has recently begun a training program to help its personnel with this issue. IRS Commissioner (TE/GE) Sarah Hall Ingram indicated in a June 2009 speech, that one purpose of that training is to address concerns that IRS agents may be applying governance standards inconsistently. Keywords:
