Abstract:
Parents of children with special educational needs often experience difficulty navigating special education procedures. Research has focused on feelings of efficacy in parenting as well as parental involvement in general education; however, there is a dearth of research on parental feelings of efficacy with regard to navigating the complex special education system. This descriptive study examines relational and systemic factors that affect parental navigation of the special education system. The assessment of parental feelings of efficacy during special education related activities through the use of self-report measure was the main focus of this study. Additionally, specific parent characteristics were investigated to determine their association with feelings of efficacy. Keywords:
