Abstract: 

This article is a first-person discussing aging individuals--- “unbefriended adults”--- with no family or friends to serve as guardians. Even in the presence of a living will, no provision is or can be easily made for guardianship in the event of incapacity. Some states have taken steps to rectify this growing issue.
