Abstract:
Accompanied by a large, eye-grabbing picture of an aging hand, curled at an awkward-looking angle and ringed with multiple colored identification bracelets, the article entitled “Gone Without a Case: Suspicious Elder Deaths Rarely Investigated” will be many individuals’ introduction to the idea that some murderers of elders are escaping detection. The December 2011 article was the latest in a long-running investigative collaboration by ProPublica, National Public Radio, and the PBS show “Frontline.” The article is accompanied by an online resource guide to the topic. Keywords: Gone Without a Case; murderers of elders; death certificates in error
