Abstract:

As reported in VED 1302 (Jul./Aug. 2010), Disability Advocates, Inc., won a landmark case in 2010, when the District Court for the Eastern District of New York ordered changes in New York State’s mental health system. But the case was appealed to the Second Circuit, which reversed the lower court’s ruling on April 6, 2012, based on issues of “standing”. This article discusses the ramifications of the case, Disability Advocates, Inc., v. New York Coalition for Quality Assisted Living.
