Abstract: 

This article reviews the background and development of an initiative funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and its federal partners to improve the integration of drug abuse treatment with criminal justice agencies at the program and system levels. This initiative is called the National Criminal Justice Drug Abuse Treatment Studies (CJ-DATS).
