Abstract:

Lately, criminal justice professionals are focusing on issues such as high prison costs, prison overcrowding, and drastic increases in recidivism rates. With problems such as these, it is obvious that the current correctional model is not effective in reducing crime. The authors provide insight into the positive effects of employing ex-offenders on reducing recidivism rates. They discuss the benefits that jobs give ex-offenders, as well as the how to incentivize employers to make attaining employment a realistic goal upon release.
