Abstract:
People who work with substance abusing offenders know that in too many cases career or vocational planning is not a generally possessed strength. While drug and treatment courts provide a structure that allows offenders to successfully address their addiction issues, occasionally such courts can make career/vocational situations worse. For offenders, tenuous employment, economic livelihood, or new job opportunities can be jeopardized when they are incarcerated because of court practice or probation policy. Sanchez et al. explain the benefits of implementing strong vocational programs in drug and treatment court programs. Keywords: drug court; employment
