Abstract:

This article describes Anne Gehle’s “Life’s O.K.” program. Life’s O.K. is a simple game designed to help incarcerated substance abusers deal with everyday life. The plan was to give them a chance to put into practice the cognitive and budgeting skills discussed in jail and prison classrooms. Life’s O.K. brings the players through the experiential learning cycle by addressing the first three stages of change (pre-contemplative, contemplative, and planning). It also covers all need areas of the Level of Service Inventory– Revised (LSI-R).

Keywords: Life's O.K.; games
