Abstract:
As policymakers and treatment providers consider expanding treatment options for women offenders, it is critical to determine whether programs designed specifically for women offenders produce better outcomes than standard prison programs. This study is the first to conduct a randomized controlled trial in a prison setting to determine the relative effectiveness of a theoretically based and trauma-informed gender- responsive treatment (GRT) program compared to a standard prison therapeutic community (TC) treatment program. Keywords: Gender-responsive treatment; drug treatment
