Abstract: 

The author shares his career-long journey studying program characteristics in an attempt to identify the attributes that separate effective from ineffective correctional interventions. The article highlights valuable lessons learned about the challenges of implementing evidence-based programs and practices in correctional agencies, the importance of acknowledging obstacles, and the critical components for success.
