Abstract: 

This article discusses the role of entrepreneurship as a viable route to overcoming the stigma of a criminal justice history and as an innovative tool to enable successful reentry and recovery. It introduces Recovery Through Entrepreneurship (RTE), a new initiative whose goals include (1) the formation of a national alliance to overcome stigma and to advance successful reentry and recovery and (2) the introduction of a 21st century digital approach to make entrepreneurship more accessible to both programs and individuals. It also discusses the use of a variety of funding sources to support the development of this initiative.
