Abstract: 

Ralph Kirkland Gable, widely regarded as the co-inventor of offender monitoring, died January 18, 2015 at the age of 80 in Thousand Oaks, California. Marc Renzema, founding editor of Journal of Offender Monitoring, recounts how Kirk and his brother Robert came to invent electronic monitoring and how he regarded what the direction it took.
