Abstract: 

For years, prevention education experts have preached that marijuana is the “gateway” drug, a stepping-stone to illicit drug use. Some argue that alcohol is the gateway drug, but whatever the case, prevention education efforts have been geared—especially in the early grades—to teach students to say “no” to marijuana. Yet, there appears to be a worldwide trend toward the eventual legalization of this dangerous mind-changing substance.
